Villa Radicata

History

Villa Radicata was once home to a large Italian family (twelve children) who cultivated the land around the house. The last of the surviving sons, Giovanni, still owns the plot of land next to the villa and can be seen early morning attending his vegetables and is only too pleased if you try and chat to him. He often brings round his delicious produce to taste.

Restoration has brought the villa tastefully back to life, adding a swimming pool and all modern comforts, whilst keeping the original character intact and sleeping up to ten guests. Today your family and friends can enjoy our holiday villa in Tuscany, with outstanding views of Lake Montedoglio and the Upper Tiber Valley, for a relaxing break. The beautiful surrounding countryside is ideal for walking cycling, horse riding, or exploring the nearby Italian art treasures.

The area is steeped in history. Michelangelo, the great artist was born 5 km away from Villa Radicata and Piero della Francesco 20km away. His famous painting, "La Madonna del parto" or "The Pregnant Madonna" can be seen at Monterchi, a thirty minute drive from the villa. As we are close to the Tuscan - Umbrian border, the towns of Perugia, Assisi and Citta di Castello are within easy reach as are some of the spa towns of Emilia Romangna, i.e Bagno Romagnia. Cortona and Siena are easy day trips as is the independent republic of San Marino.

La Verna monastry, where Saint Francis received the stigmata is a 40 minute drive away, Arezzo, setting for the film "Life is beautiful" 45 minutes away and Florence with all its Renaissance art treasures one and half hours drive or 50 minutes on the train from Arezzo.
