Villa Radicata

The Villa

Villa Radicata is a pretty, stone farmhouse close to Anghiari in Central Tuscany. It is surrounded by three acres of private gardens and has its own private swimming pool giving fabulous, open views over the Tuscan countryside. It has been renovated retaining many original features and has chestnut beams and terracotta floors throughout.  There are several patios and a lovely pergola around the house making it a perfect house for a large group. The villa is close to a small local village with a supermarket and pizzeria and just 15 mins from Anghiari, a pretty hilltop town with a variety of shops.  It is also within easy reach of the larger town of San Sepolcro (20 mins). Villa Radicata is located in an interesting area both for its beautiful countryside and also because of its proximity to the birthplace of the world renowned artist, Michelangelo Buonarroti at Caprese Michelangelo (5kms).

The Villa - Outside

Villa Radicata is set in 3 acres of terraced hillside, with breathtaking views of Lake Montedoglio and  the Upper Tiber Valley. From the tiny hamlet of Caroni San Cristoforo a one kilometre cement road winds up and along the hillside of Picco Castagno (Chestnut Peak) to Villa Radicata.

Resist the urge to jump in the pool (12x5m), as you make your way down a short flight of stone stairs curving down to the garden and stoned patio courtyard.

Passing by the kitchen courtyard area with its sunflower decorated ceramic table and chairs. The views unfold into a magnificent panorama, cited as the best of the area by the locals.

Past the side of the house a stone walkway leads around and past the old (but fully functional!) external bread oven to the front of the house and the stone-paved dining terrace.

Here the Pergola area provides a great outside dining area, imagine sipping your glass of Chianti surrounded by dancing butterflies over the lavender and rose bushes, while admiring the fabulous lake and mountain views

Below, in a private world, stone-walled terraced fields and hazelnut orchards lead down to wild grass and flower meadows with olive, cypress and walnut trees; where, almost unnoticed, hammocks hang lazily in the shade, and secluded tables and chairs are tucked away in groves of broom.
